In this special presentation from Gaycation, Ellen Page and Ian Daniel travel to Orlando in the wake of the massacre at Pulse nightclub.
Last night, Ellen Page was joined with Jenny Slate and Paul Rust on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Here are some great clips from the episode! Check them out below –
GAYCATION follows Ellen Page and her best friend Ian Daniel as they set off to explore LGBT cultures around the world. From Japan to Brazil to Jamaica to the USA, the two meet some fascinating people during their travels and hear their stories.
In the first episode of the series, Ellen and Ian head to Japan, where same-sex marriage is still not legal and same-sex couples often bear a social stigma. However, certain cities have begun to recognize same-sex partnerships and the LGBT community continues to thrive in the country’s vibrant culture and nightlife. Ellen and Ian find out what it’s really like to identify as LGBT in Japan and meet some of the people struggling to find their voice in a country that refuses to give them equal rights under the law.
Check out the first episode of GAYCATION and stay tuned for new episodes airing on VICELAND Wednesdays at 10 PM. Visit the website to find out about all the ways that you can watch their new VICELAND shows.
The first trailer for Viceland’s Gaycation, which has Ellen Page traveling to different cities around the world exploring local LGBT culture, is finally here and it’s a wild ride. The 28-year-old actor made headlines last August when she went head-to-head with Ted Cruz at the Iowa State Fair — a confrontation that appears in the upcoming series.
That tense and emotional moment is only one of many for Page and her co-host/best friend Ian Daniel as they travel from the U.S. to Toyko, Rio De Janeiro, and Jamaica. In each episode, Page and Daniel (who is also gay) attempt to explore the ways in which different cultures deal with gender, sex, and sexuality by immersing themselves in the local LGBT community.
Filming the series proved to be a very personal and moving experience for Page, who found herself in front of the camera with no script to follow.
Gaycation will premiere on Viceland, Vice’s new TV network, Wednesday, March 2nd at 10PM.
